After ten years of holding the "Flag Day" event, we are taking a year off. We will still be celebrating Flag Day, but we're not going to have the big public event we have had in past years. We are very proud of the last ten years worth of events, with a combined total of well over three thousand people served we were happy to make this a fun event for all involved.

We had several members of our "Flag Day" team that would have loved to help this year, but one was busy starting a new radio station, another mover to the other side of the state and all of the others have been quite busy with work and family obligations. This is what ultimately helped us decide to take a year off. We hope to bring this event back in 2011 and make it even bigger than it has been in the past!

Thank you for understanding!

History of Flag Day itself!
Flag Day was first observed in 1877 on the 100th anniversary of the Continental Congress' adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. Congress asked that all public buildings fly the flag June 14.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Flag Day as a national celebration. However, the holiday was not officially recognized until 1949 when President Harry Truman signed the National Flag Day Bill.
